Recently Read:
Dreaming In Code - Scott Rosenberg

Review:
Great read for anyone engineering/programming/project management related. Tracks the history of a particular software project which ended up being the most over-budget, past-schedule mess in perhaps all of recorded history. Think Boston's Big Dig, but software...
Easy to read and say "These guys are idiots", but anyone who's ever written code can probably take a step back and see a bit of themselves in the story. Should be mandatory reading for engineering, marketing, or anyone else in a software-related industry.

Book review - The Informant

Great book! As one of the quotes on the cover says, it reads exactly like a John Grisham novel... only it's all true. Big fan. If you haven't read Eichenwald's other stuff (Serpent on The Rock and Conspiracy of Fools) I highly recommend them. Particularly Conspiracy... if, like me, you got sick of hearing about Enron on the news and never grasped the full magnitude of what actually went down.

Book Review - Deep Survival

All-round a pretty solid book. Fascinating look at the psychology behind survival situations and why some live and some die. I can see the thought process being useful... not that I expect to find myself in that many life-and-death situations any time soon, but as I read the book, I found myself making a determined effort to be more conscious & observing of my instincts in everyday stressful situations. That being said, I spent most of the book waiting for the punchline... "OK, so tell me how to be one of the ones that lives!!!" only to find that the last chapter is "So, I can't really tell you how to be one of the ones that lives, but here are a few pieces of useful survival knowledge..." Read it expecting a psychology book rather than a survival guide, and you'll dig it.
